A chance encounter with North Carolina head basketball coach Roy Williams led to thousands of dollars being raised to help a woman with a brain tumor.
Hannah Telman, a resident of Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, was out on a morning run on a popular, looped running trail in town when she saw the UNC coach walking with a friend. Telman didn’t have the nerve to approach Williams, but promised herself if she saw him again, she would.
Telman wanted to talk to Williams because she was helping organize a fundraising run and barbecue for her pastor’s wife, Amy Louthan, who was preparing for a brain surgery to see if a large tumor in her head was cancerous or not. The fundraiser was to help raise money to cover extensive medical bills.
